Summit County Clerk of Courts Daniel M. Horrigan is pleased to announce that effective April 18, 2007; the Summit County Clerk of Courts will be processing passport applications at the Title Division - Main Office, 1030 E. Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, OH. 44310. Passport applications will be accepted from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday (except for Legal Holidays). Previously, applications were accepted at the 9th District Court of Appeals Office in Downtown Akron and only on Thursdays and Fridays. Passports will no longer be available in that office.
"With the new passport requirements, I want to make sure that we offer the citizens of Summit County easy access to these services" said Horrigan. To obtain a passport for the first time, you need two photographs of yourself, proof of U.S. citizenship, and a valid form of photo identification such as a driver's license. Fees for individuals 16 years of age or older include a $55 processing fee and $12 security fee made out to the "U.S. Department of State" and a $30 execution fee payable to the Summit County Clerk of Courts for a total of $97. For individuals under 16 years of age, the processing fee is $40; all other fees remain the same. All fees are set by the U.S. Department of State.
In addition to offering increased application days and hours, no parking costs and first floor entry, the Clerk of Courts office will be offering passport photos for an additional $6.00 fee (tax included). Applicants will have one-stop service for their passport needs.
