Jeff Leightman
Head Coach Second Season
Jeff Leightman is in his second season as head coach of the San Jose State University women's soccer team, and continues the rebuilding process of the program.
In his first year, Leightman had seven true freshmen and one redshirt freshman start at least 11 games each, improving San Jose State's overall winning percentage from .238 to .350 while qualifying for a fourth straight WAC Tournament. A program-high 10 Spartans earned Academic All-WAC distinction.
Leightman arrived from his alma mater, Binghamton (N.Y.) University, where he compiled a record of 102-66-1 from 1998-07. He led the Bearcats to the 2004 America East Conference regular-season and tournament titles and an NCAA Championship berth, earning AEC Coach of the Year honors.
Leightman has worked at the collegiate level for 16 years, having coached a nationally-ranked NCAA Division III program, a regionallyranked Division I program at Villanova and a Division I national champion at North Carolina prior to leading Binghamton.
In 1998, Leightman's first year at Binghamton, the Bearcats were ranked nationally and finished with a 14-3-1 record and an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) crown. Over seven years at Division I, he directed his squad to regional top-10 rankings by both the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA) and Soccer Buzz. In addition to the 2004 title,
Leightman led Binghamton to the America East semifinals in 2005 and 2007, and the quarterfinals in 2006. The Bearcats were ECAC runners-up in 1999 and semifinalists in 2001 and 2003. Leightman has served as the America East Women's Soccer Coaches' Chair from 2005-07, the National Chairman for the NSCAA rankings and the East Region Chairman for the NSCAA ScholarAthlete All-America Committee.
Leightman has been involved with the Olympic Development Program since 2002. He was a United States Youth Soccer Region I staff coach at the U13 and U14 levels, as well as the head coach of the New York State West ODP U16 and U17 teams.
As an assistant coach at Villanova in 1997, Leightman helped guide the Wildcats to an 8-8-2 record, the Big East Tournament semifinals and an ECAC Tournament appearance. At North Carolina in 1996, he assisted in a national championship as the Tar Heels finished with a 25-1 record and the Atlantic Coast Conference title.
Leightman's coaching career began at Binghamton as an assistant coach from 1993-96. He earned a degree in biological sciences from Binghamton in 1995, and holds an NSCAA Premier diploma.

Craig Winans
Assistant Coach Fourth Season
Craig Winans is in his fourth season as the assistant coach for the San Jose State women's soccer program.
Prior to joining the Spartan staff in 2006, Winans had been the director of coaching of the Xtreme Soccer Club, based in Pacifica, Calif., where he was responsible for building the recentlyformed club program. In addition, he was the girl's head coach at Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep in San Francisco, Calif., during the 2004 season.
Winans has also been a state staff coach and instructor since 1997 and district Olympic Development Program (ODP) head coach since 1995 for the
California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA), based in Pleasanton, Calif.
The 1981 San Francisco State University graduate majored in business with an emphasis in accounting. Winans also attended the United States Air Force Academy, where he played college soccer, and Cal State Hayward.
The San Francisco native holds an NSCAA Premier diploma and a United States Soccer Federation National "B" coaching license. He and his wife, Vickie, have four children, Bridget, Brendan, Kevin and Theresa, and reside in San Francisco, Calif.

Assistant Coach First Season
Ivan Bandov is in his second season as a volunteer assistant coach for the San Jose State University women's soccer program. He primarily works with the Spartan goalkeepers, but assists in other aspects as well.
David Lovercheck is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the San Jose State University women's soccer program. He also serves as the head equipment manager for FC Gold Pride, the Bay Area franchise of Women's Professional Soccer.

Second Season
Colin Corstorphine is in his second season as a volunteer with the San Jose State University women's soccer program. In 2009, he is assisting in an operations capacity, after serving as a coach in 2008.
