Prior to the Sept. meeting, members of the TJC base & the Springfield base attended the unveiling of the tolling boats and bell from the WWII Muddy Mo Submarine Veterans Base. It became a permanent exhibit of the Missouri Museum of Military History in Jefferson City, Mo.

After the unveiling the next stop was Oscar's Classic Diner for some great food and then the base meeting.

2017 APPLE FEST. PARADE OCT.-VERSAILLES, MO.

VERSAILLES PARADE-2017 The Versailles parade is held during the town's Apple Fest celebration, we have decided to name ithe Rain Fest. The forecast was for scattered showers, and they were scattered...each end, both sides, and over the TJC float! However, all stuck it out, all seats on the float were filled, plus three in the truck and our veteran banner carriers, Sam and Wendell, leading the way on the streets. The turnout of the Versailles crowd was impressive, streets were lined with wet and smiling people who appreciated seeing us. (or, did they just think that a bunch of wet sailors was a funny sight?) Afterwards, we traveled a short distance to Excelsoir Mo (try to find it on a map!) for a great lunch at the KenMar, arranged by Ila and Hutch. The food was great, and the coffee even more appreciated, as everyone had to dry out a bit. As a plus, the only store in town was closely inspected by the ladies, with what they considered to be excess inventory purchased and taken home! A soggy day, but a great day-wonder if it will rain again next year?
